For those who have wondered 'where is Missy Elliot', she has come from behind the scenes to let the world know what she is up to. Missy talks producing and her new track, Blow Your Whistle and Will.I.Am gives hip-hop critics a piece of his mind when you read on...
We’ve all wondered where Missy has been on the music scene. Well, she recently sat down with MTV News to let everyone know music is still in her blood.
Missy let it be known that she is not gone from the music scene, but just working ‘behind the scenes’ producing and writing tracks for her protege` Jasmine Sullivan, long-time collab partner Monica, and other artists:
"...I'm just behind the scenes right now. I did the artist thing, now I'm just writing and producing."
Peeps can expect a new club track from Missy called "Blow Your Whistle":
"I gotta figure out this video thing and then we gon' drop it. It's gotta be a whole thing, it's a puzzle for me. It's not just the record, it's about the video too," Elliott said.
Glad the chick is staying busy. Maybe we'll get another Missy and Timbaland collab in the future.
Anyways, Missy confirms she has been behind the scene making music lately, but she denies he rumors of an engagement/relationship with anyone.
In other producer news...
So you all remember when peeps were popping off about Will.i.am rocking black make-up at the VMA’s and making claims that his music was not a reflection of today's hip- hop?
Well, now Will.i.am claps back at all the critics in the November issue of The Source magazine:
"I'm like, 'Cool. It's not crowded. Y'all n***s stay over there. "F*** a quotable. I ain't trying to make other rappers be like, 'Yo, that n****'s nice.' I don't give a f***. I did that when I was 19, 20, 21. I don't wanna do that no more."
Oh, wait, there's more...
"We take no ownership and Hip-Hop demonstrates that. We came from dance, disco and electro, but in 2010, if a Black man does dance, disco and electro we say, 'That's not Hip-Hop.' As a Black man in America, why should I limit my creative to stereotypes that not only white America sees in us, but now our own culture. So, please, tell me what Hip-Hop is 'cause if that's your definition, I don't wanna be that. I'll be the definition of the Hip-Hop I fell in love with."
Will.i.am is not holding his tongue this time around.
Do I smell a "Hip-Hop In America" discussion? Will.i.am will definitely be at this roundtable discussion.
Tell em' why you mad Will.
