Whether or not you're a fan of the pigskin, chances are you'll be in front of a TV this Sunday, chowing down when the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers meet at Cowboys Stadium for Super Bowl XLV. Roughly 106.5 million viewers tuned in to last year's gridiron classic, and it's a safe bet that not all of them were football fans. Why did they watch? Because the game itself is just one (admittedly central) element of the nationally televised extravaganza that is the Super Bowl (airing on Fox this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET). Here are three reasons you'll want to tune in even if you could care less about football:
1. The Music: Before the game even starts, Blue Man Group will perform a 15-minute show. Glee's Lea Michele is slated to belt out "America the Beautiful," and Christina Aguilera will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner." Then burly athletic types (some of them not so tough on the eyes) will pummel each other for about an hour before the Black Eyed Peas take center stage for the year's most coveted TV performance slot, the halftime show. Usher (who features will.i.am on his single"O.M.G.") is reportedly going to make a guest appearance. So is Slash, who collaborated with Fergie on a song last year.
Some companies, like Volkswagen and Coke, have cannily released their Super Bowl spots on the Internet already. Two have already become viral sensations getting millions of hits, including the kid in the Darth Vader costume who just wants to get his Force mojo working (watch here):
And then there's the sleepwalker on safari, an endorsement for the lengths one man will go to get a Coke (watch below).
3. Glee! So even if the guys in tights... uh, NFL players... bore you, it won't be long before the game ends and a special supersized Glee follows the festivities.
