Did Patti Stinger Sabotage Her Clients?

Did Patti Stinger Sabotage Her Clients?

Patti Stanger makes a living finding her wealthy clients a match made in heaven -- but a few of this season's Millionaire Matchmaker guests claim that Stanger put them through hell. Following Tuesday's Season 4 finale of Millionaire Matchmaker, three millionaires who recently appeared on the BRAVO show complained to Page Six that their lives and reputations had been ruined. Their complaints? Divorce attorney Doug Kepanis says that the show portrayed him as sexist, leading to a huge drop in female clients. Brooklyn millionaire Jason Teich claims that he hasn't had a date since the show aired, because "producers fed me drinks and then Patti yelled at me for being an alcoholic." Stockbroker David Vroubel says his episode was edited to make him look awkward and creepy, and questions Stanger's authority since she "can't even get married herself."

Naturally, Stanger wasn't about to take these accusations lying down. On Thursday, the matchmaker fired back at her disgruntled guest stars (who generally receive her matchmaking services for free in exchange for their appearance on the show).

"This is all lies," Stanger said bluntly. "I don't have any control over the edits, I'm not in the editing room, you're on a show. Look at the Kardashians -- what do you think that is? It's a reality show."

She's got a point. But in terms of the millionaires' reputations, she says that how they appear on TV is really not her problem.

"Listen, it's not my fault their business fell off the wagon," she declared in response to the Page Six article. "They come on my show to get famous and brand themselves. It's not scripted. You are who you are."

As for Jason Teich, the "alcoholic" who says the producers set him up? Stanger claims he brought his own beer to the set.

Interestingly, Stanger's female millionaire clients don't seem at all bitter about their TV appearances, even though they got the same harsh on-camera treatment. Caterer Andre Correale says she appeared "exaggerated" on the show, but that it actually helped her business. And PR maven Robin Kassner, whom Stanger called fat and delusional, says she's since recommended Patti's services to her friends.

Is it possible that the disgruntled male millionaires are just suffering from wounded egos? We find it hard to believe that every single woman in Brooklyn has seen Jason Teich act like an idiot on BRAVO. And David Vroubel complains that Patti called him creepy -- but his date (and everyone who watched the show) shared her opinion! Reality TV editing can certainly play tricks, but anybody smart enough to make a million dollars should be prepared for that. We think the whiners may just be upset about being taken down a notch by a strong woman. And that just makes us look forward to Season 5!
